Ilya Ponomarev, former member of the Russian parliament, was the sole deputy to vote against the annexation of Crimea in 2014.
Now living in exile in Ukraine, Ilya is a prominent voice in the opposition to Putin’s United Russia government. Businessman and entrepreneur, Ilya is described as a neo-communist or progressive libertarian. He advocates for greater equality, social and business entrepreneurship, and is a critic of the Western model of globalisation.
Ilya will share his thoughts with us about the current state of the Russian Opposition, Putin’s role in Europe, and the future of Russian democracy.
