Protests in Belarus: Future of Europe’s Last Dictatorship

We will be joined a panel of experts to discuss the significance of the recent wave of protests in Belarus. The nation has been labelled “The Last Dictatorship in Europe” and the protest are proving to have wide-reaching consequences.
We will be joined by:
Vytis Jurkonis – Lecturer at Vilnus University and Project Director at Freedom House. Mr. Jurkonis is a project director at Freedom House and leads its Vilnius office.
Jurkonis has lectured at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University since 2006. Vytis Jurkonis is primarily known as the expert of Belarus related issues, Eastern Partnership region and Russia as well as Lithuanian foreign policy.
Natalia Arno – President of Free Russia Foundation
Arno is the founder and president of the Free Russia Foundation, a nonprofit and nonpartisan U.S.-based nongovernmental organization that informs U.S. policy makers on events in Russia in real time and supports formulation of an effective and sustainable Russia policy in the U.S.
Franak Viačorka – Journalist and Activist
Viačorka is a digital media strategist and journalist from Belarus. He works as research media analyst for the U.S. Agency for Global Media focusing on digital markets of Eurasia. For his activism and journalist work in Belarus, he was jailed multiple times by the Belarus authorities.
